This dinner will provide an opportunity to learn more about modern slavery, hear from businesses engaged in Business in the Community’s (BITC) employment programme about their work on this subject, and explore how businesses can be part of cross-sector efforts to tackle modern slavery in UK communities by supporting survivors.
Modern slavery is a global problem, which is thought to occur in almost every country of the world. Since the Modern Slavery Act was introduced in 2015, UK businesses with a turnover of at least £36m have a legal requirement to publish an annual modern slavery statement detailing how they are seeking to eradicate modern slavery from their supply chain. Four years on, attention is turning to the quality of these statements and the action being taken.
A three-course dinner will be served.
